Visual Merchandising and Promotion

Window Display

I worked with a group of three other students to create a window display for a local retailer in downtown Fargo, ND., Others. This boutique focuses on being fair-trade and promoting ethically-produced and sustainable products. We worked with the boutique manager to create a display that showcased their products and told the story of who they are. Our group decided to go with a garden scene/theme for the window.

Through this project we were able to utilize the knowledge we had gained on spacial patterns, color stories, etc.

Creation of Concept Store

Through this team project, we were able to demonstrate all we had learned throughout the semester pertaining to visual merchandising. Our team was given an athletic store, and decided to go with a store for the woman who wears athletic wear for nearly everything and needs her pieces to easily transition from each activity.

This project allowed us to focus on a real life scenario of visual merchandising and the importance it plays in communicating with the consumer. We chose the lighting, sounds, fixtures, mannequins, layout, promotion, store front/windows, logo. Our professor also encouraged us to find ways to make our businesses more sustainable through the visual merchandising efforts which we did through our lighting and bagging options.
